Paradise is hard to come by these days. But then again, paradise has always been hard to come by. In fact, the majority of the world's people probably have never known anything closely resembling a lasting, enduring paradise. If we Americans, enjoying the highest standard of living ever known, have difficulty finding and keeping our private paradises, the world's teeming millions, often deep in poverty, frequently malnourished, regularly abused and exploited, might think of paradise as an ever-elusive dream.
