Object:
A hearing aid. A pair of glasses. (Borrow them, if you do not have either of these.)
Purpose: To encourage children to seek help when they need it.
Material: A hearing aid. A pair of glasses. (Borrow them, if you do not have either of these.)
Special Procedure: If possible, be seated when you are talking to the children.
Lesson: This morning I have something I want to show you that you may not have seen before. Does anyone know what this is? ... (A hearing aid.) And what is it used for? ... (To help a person hear better.) Some people are not able to hear as well as you do so they have to wear a hearing aid that magnifies the sound so that they can hear better. Isn't that wonderful? It's just like these glasses. Some people wear glasses so that they can see better.
Now, what would you think of a person who needed a hearing aid or glasses and could afford to buy them, but did not? ... That's not very smart, is it? And what would you think about a boy or girl who wants to learn how to ride a bike, but will not let anyone help? ... That's not very smart, either.
The point I want you to remember is that there are times when we all need help and wise is the person who will ask for help when it is needed.
Now, will someone please help me get up? Thank you.
