Wedding With Communion
Sermon
Wedding Sermons And Marriage Ceremonies
Pastor: Welcome to the wedding of (Groom) and (Bride). They have discovered that the many--faceted dimensions of love include the spiritual dimension. Love's power can transform the world. Many times we find the level of love that is so emotional and social, but there is a loftier dimension. God is in the midst of this kind of love. He is the weaver with the thread of gold. Through marriage we invite the highest spiritual experience in the eternal joy of love.
(Bride) and (Groom) desire to embody the highest values of life in their relationship as God is brought into this marriage today, creating a loving union.
Who brings this woman to this moment of love?
Father: Her family brings her to this love friendship that is set on fire for a lifetime.
Pastor: A husband and wife should bear each other's joys, sorrows, burdens, and hope. As you enter marriage, you are cultivating a new life together. The elements of consideration, love, and tender--heartedness should be planted for a lifetime.
As Randolph Ray wrote, "I would like to have engraved inside every wedding band, 'Be kind to one another.' This is the Golden Rule of marriage and the secret of making love last through the years."
So, (Groom) and (Bride), I charge you to love one another with a deep, abiding love. The vows you are about to take are to bond you for a lifetime.
Pastor: (Groom), repeat after me.
Pastor (Groom Repeats): I marry you, (Bride), because I want you to be a part of my life. I pledge that you will be a part of my decisions and considerations in life. I will share my joy and ask for your support in sorrow for as long as we both shall live. (Bride), I love you!
Pastor: (Bride), repeat after me:
Pastor (Bride Repeats): I accept your pledge of love. I marry you, (Groom), because I want you to be a part of my life. I pledge to you that you will be part of my decisions and considerations in my life. I will share my joy and ask for your support in sorrow for as long as we both shall live. (Groom), I love you!
Groom: I accept your pledge of love.
Pastor: God is the center of life. He has no beginning and no ending, just like these rings. Let the seamlessness of the circle be a symbol of your endless love.
Groom: (Bride), I give you this ring as my symbol of never--ending steadfastness as I respect you for the rest of my life.

Pastor: As a Christian couple, (Bride) and (Groom) would like to begin their marriage with communion to signify their love for God. This time will help set a pattern for their new journey and give them a sense of commitment to their holy God. We open to all who are members of God's family of faith, the meal of redemption.
(Ushers will come and pass to the wedding party and members of the congregation the communion elements.)
Pastor: Let us recall on that night so long ago how the Lord Jesus, on the night of betrayal, took bread and blessed it and distributed it to all of his disciples and said, "Take, eat; this is my body broken for you. This do in remembrance of me." He then took a cup and blessed it and said, "This cup is the new covenant in my blood. Take, drink it, if you are able." As often as we eat this bread and drink this cup, we commemorate the Lord's death until he returns."
Pastoral Prayer Of Thanksgiving
Pastor: (Groom) and (Bride), your love for each other has drawn you together. In this sanctuary and in the sanctuaries of your hearts, you have become one in love. Therefore, by the authority of the (Church) and the State of (State), I pronounce that you are husband and wife. May your lives forever be entwined and may God sanctify your marriage. (Groom), you may now kiss your bride.
Pastor: It is my distinct honor to introduce to this congregation (First Name) and (First Name) (Last Name). What God has joined together let no person separate.
