All-Seeing God
Intercession
Prayers usually include these concerns and may follow this sequence:
The Church of Christ Creation, human society, the Sovereign and those in authority The local community Those who suffer The communion of saints
These responses may be used:
Lord, in your mercy Hear our prayer Lord, hear us. Lord, graciously hear us.
All-seeing God, you see the big picture which we humans are unable to see, and you care about even the little people. When Mary and Joseph brought their baby to the temple for your blessing, they were welcomed and greeted by Simeon and Anna. May we in your Church continue to greet those who bring their children to church for your blessing. Remind us that our attitudes and manner make a huge impression on those who only attend occasionally. Guard our tongues that we may be sensitive to the needs of those who tentatively want to know you.
Today, with the world-wide church we pray especially for....
All-seeing God, you see the big picture which we humans are unable to see, and you care about even the little people. May those throughout the world who are poor and hungry and thirsty know that you continue to care for them just as Jesus cared for them. And may we who are comparitively wealthy learn to care enough to share our resources with those who are destitute, that they too might live. Especially in troubled areas, remind the leaders of the nations that chance remarks and ill-considered actions can have long-term consequences of damage for many people, and eanble those leaders to draw close to you for help and guidance.
All-seeing God, you see the big picture which we humans are unable to see, and you care about even the little people. As we seek a better future for our world, remind us that both our actions and our refusals to act affect the life of our nation. May we particularly conscious of the needs of our children for secure, loving and stable bases from which to grow. May we refuse to accept any lowering of Christian standards in public life, but work always towards greater spirituality and closeness to you.
All-seeing God, you see the big picture which we humans are unable to see, and you care about even the little people. You healed the sick no matter what their station in life, and you cared so much about a poor woman who had been excluded from human society for years through her illness that you made sure she was cured. We hold in your presence those of our families and friends who are sick, asking for your healing power for them....
All-seeing God, you see the big picture which we humans are unable to see, and you care about even the little people. You experienced death because we experience death, and now you wait to greet each one of us after death. You have prepared places for each of us, and so our loved ones are safe in your presence. We remember before you those who have recently lost someone they love ... and those for whom this week brings back sad memories....
Merciful Father,
Accept these prayers for the sake of your Son, our Saviour Jesus Christ. Amen.
