Lord, in your mercy
Hear our prayer
Lord, hear us.
Lord, graciously hear us.
Radiant God, I want so much to be with you in your Kingdom all the time. But I'm struggling. I really enjoy the delights of modern life and I don't want to go away and live like a hermit. Radiant God, is it possible to combine modern life with the Kingdom? Help me to understand that I need to undergo a sea-change in my attitudes, until I want you so much that nothing else matters. Work within me through your Spirit so that my dark places are gradually filled with light and my priorities grow straight and true. For when I really enjoy your Kingdom as you meant it to be enjoyed, I know my love will overflow and wash over all those around me - and so perhaps your Kingdom will come.
Radiant God, work within me through your Spirit so that my dark places are gradually filled with light and my priorities grow straight and true, and may your Kingdom come.
Radiant God, fill your Church with your Spirit. May we move away from busy-ness and into the peace of silence. May we allow your Spirit room to manoeuvre and then trust you enough to follow where you lead. Save your Church from the sin of filling every minute of every day and instead teach us the importance of allowing enough space and time for you.
With Christians throughout the world we pray especially today for the Province of the Indian Ocean with Archbishop Remi Rabenirina and Lulea in Sweden, with Bishop Rune Backlund.

Radiant God, our world is full of radiance and glory, but we so often mar its beauty. We pray for wisdom for our world leaders, asking that the Spirit within them might be nurtured. Help them to bear the heavy responsibilities of office, that they might find the time and space to wait upon you. And may they so follow your internal bidding that they work together for the good of all humanity.

Radiant God, we long for our local community to blossom. May your Spirit be poured into every heart, may your love be experienced in every home. May those who are vulnerable know your strength and be supported by the whole community. May those who are suffering know your compassion and feel the arms of the community around them. And may we allow each other the time and space we all need.

Radiant God, bring wholeness and healing to those who are sick. We pray today for their carers and for those who anxiously watch and wait at bedsides, and we ask that you are very close to those who have recently heard bad news. Radiant God, we thank you for the lives of those who have died and gone before us. May we never forget their influence upon us and may we always feel their love encircling us. Hold in your strong and warm and comforting arms those who have recently lost someone they love, and enable them to feel your hope. We name them before you now ... and those who continue to feel sadness over a previous bereavement at around this time...
