He can do it!
Children's Activity
Object:
Teachers or Parents: The resurrection of Jesus from the dead is
the central truth of Christianity. As we prepare for Easter, we
need to instill in our children a sense of awe for that event.
They need to see that the resurrection is what proves that God's
promises are real. If God can raise Jesus from the dead, He can
do anything! Most important for us, He can fulfill His promise to
raise us from the dead.
*Put up pictures of several big buildings, dams, or other
things that took a long time to build. Ask the children first if
any of them by themselves could build any of these things. Ask if
they think you could do it by yourself. Establish by your
questions that it would take many people working together a long
time with vast resources to build any of these things. With that
established, ask them if they think God could do it and how long
it would take Him? When they agree that God could do it in an
instant if He wanted to, share the Gospel story about the words
of Jesus and show them that the raising of Jesus from the dead
was a much bigger project than any of these and is totally
impossible for human beings to accomplish no matter how much time
and resources they have.
Sunday school assembly opening:
*Sing an Easter hymn that emphasizes the resurrection.
