Healthy roots

Plant fertilizer
Good morning! How many of you have plants at home? Some plants
are outside and others are inside. Are they pretty?
I have found that plants do best when they have good roots. We never see the roots because they are below ground. Sometimes the largest portion of the plant is the root. If the roots are healthy, chances are the plant will also be healthy. So how do we make the roots healthy? Good soil, water, and fertilizer can make for healthy roots. That is why I brought this fertilizer with me this morning. The fertilizer has to be the right kind. You can't use too much or it will kill the plant. But if you use the right fertilizer and the right amount at the right time, you will have healthy roots and a good-looking plant.
Jesus is like a root to our lives. You cannot see Jesus -- just like you cannot see the root of a plant. But with good roots -- with Jesus -- life becomes a beautiful wonder. Jesus is our root. The better our roots, the healthier our lives. Just as plants need healthy roots, so we need a good relationship with our roots -- Jesus.
To make for healthy roots we fertilize with prayer, worship, Sunday school, and Bible readings. These things are like fertilizer to our roots -- Jesus. That is why it is so good that you are here today. I'm so glad that our roots can be fertilized here today.
