Jesus is coming back

Good morning! Have one or both of your parents ever gone
away on a trip and left you home with friends or relatives while
they were gone? (Let them answer.) When your parents do that,
what are some of the things you might want to know before they
leave? (Let them answer.) I think you would want to know, first,
when they are coming back, because you will be anxious to see
them. You might also want to know if there is anything special
that they want you to do while they are gone. There might be some
special things for you to do that are normally done by them, but
you will need to do them while they are gone.
Many years ago Jesus went on a trip to Heaven after he rose
from the dead, and he promised all of us that he would come back.
But did Jesus tell us when he was going to return? (Let them
answer.) No, he didn't tell us exactly when he would come back,
but he did promise that he would come. When Jesus comes, it will
be a wonderful day for all of us who believe in him, because on
that day he will take us to live with him forever in Heaven.
In the meantime, Jesus did tell us a lot of things he wants
us to do until he returns. What are some of the things we are
supposed to do until he comes back? (Let them answer, and make
suggestions to add to whatever they come up with.)
Let's say a prayer to ask Jesus to help us do what he wants
us to do until he returns.
Dear Jesus: We are all looking forward to the day that you
return. In the meantime, we know that you want us to love one
another and do good things for others as you did when you were
here on earth. Help us to do all the things that you want us to
do as we await your return. Amen.
