Praying always
Children's Activity
Object:
Teachers or Parents: Jesus tells a parable about a persistent
woman to illustrate the need to always pray. The woman was
utterly powerless as a widow and she was up against a powerful
adversary. She persisted anyway. Jesus says that we, too, are to
persist in prayer.
Persistence and patience are not modern virtues. We live in times that are fast moving and we expect instant answers to prayer.
God answers prayer in at least three ways: "no," "yes," or, more commonly, "not yet." The story of Tom is a "not yet" answer. Explore with your children what a "no" or "yes" might be like by making up a Tom story with each outcome. Tom might ask for a new ball and get it ("yes") and he might ask for a car and not get it ("no").
