Telephone book cover
Children's Activity
Object:
Teachers: Use this week's theme of Jesus the true vine and
help your students create a telephone cover for their home phone
book. While some phone books are different sizes, an 8 1/2 by 11
sheet of paper will cover most books. We suggest a heavier paper
stock than regular bond for this project.
Tell your students that Jesus compared himself to a grapevine. In the spring many persons who grow grapes cut off bad vines and leave only the young, good vines. Jesus is a good vine. Give each student a sheet of paper. Suggest that on the top of the sheet they write: "Jesus -- the true vine." John 15:1.
Next decorate the sheet using a grapevine theme or budding spring fruit tree theme. On the bottom of the sheet students write: "(their family name) phone book." Have the students take the covers home to glue on their books.
Parents: This week your child created a cover for your family telephone book. The cover is based on the theme that Jesus is the true vine. Help your child tape or glue the cover to your phone book.
