The warmth of God's power
Children's Activity
Object:
Materials
First Aid kit
Crutches
A sling
An empty pill bottle
An empty cough medicine bottle
An empty Tylenol bottle
Instructions
Let's pretend we have a clinic for the sick and wounded. We'll pretend we are helping people who need medical attention. First ask anyone in the class if they are wearing a band-aid or taking some medicine, need shots for diabetes, use crutches to walk, or wear glasses to see, or a hearing aid to hear. Let each child relate his experience to show that all of us need some kind of medical attention at one time or another. Maybe one of the children will tell you about the experience of surgery or going to the hospital or doctor's office
Healing is important to us, but what happens when we are faced with medical situations for which we have no answers with medicine, doctors, hospitals, appliances, and so on?
For a short period of time, Jesus, while he walked the earth, healed these kinds of situations to show the power God had given him. Sometimes Jesus heals us through prayer and faith. But God also works through doctors and nurses and medicine. Many doctors and nurses tell us how important it is to depend on our faith as well as the medicine when we are ill.
Jesus is interested in the whole person. He wants us to be physically strong and spiritually enlightened.
