In 1996, U.S. Supreme Court Justice Antonin Scalia told students at a law school in Mississippi not to hesitate to stand up for their faith, including speaking openly about the miracles and resurrection of Jesus Christ. He did this even though he knew a response from the secular world would come quickly. And it did. Richard Cohen, a Washington Post columnist, said Scalia's remarks were "jarring," and because Scalia spoke publicly about religion, Cohen questioned the Supreme Court Justice's competence.
