To abide in my love...
Illustration
To "abide in my love" is to stand firm in it, to continue in it, to grow deeper into it. Perhaps the spirit of that loyalty, that commitment, is well reflected in love letters. Ogden Nash, American writer and lyricist, wrote these words to his beloved a year after they first met and a couple years before they married: "This is a peculiarly gifted and intelligent pen. Look what it's writing now: I love you. That's a phrase I can't get out of my head -- but I don't want to. I've wanted to try it out for a long time; I like the look ... sound ... and meaning of it."
