After being in my first parish for only a couple of weeks, my wife and I went to visit an elderly couple out at their farmstead. I had done this sort of visiting before, but this was the first time as an ordained pastor. We were stunned by the hospitality that was shown to us. Although they were both arthritic and could only move about with great effort, they went about the house making sure we had proper chairs and were as comfortable as possible.
