Al, Fred, Carl, and Dan...

Al, Fred, Carl, and Dan were fraternity brothers. They were a "family" within the
fraternity, living together and having many classes together. They thought they knew one
another well. One night driving back from a party, the car in front of them ran a stop sign
and broad-sided another. Bodies flew onto the pavement.
Carl stopped their car and struggled to breathe. Al threw up in the backseat. Dan stared paralyzed at the bloody scene. Fred leaped from the car to give first aid to the victims. As his friends recovered their wits, he told them what to do. As others came, he directed and organized their efforts until the police and ambulances arrived.
Thus, even before he attended medical school, Fred was known as "Doc." His friends had experienced his true nature from that one unforgettable night.
