Almeda Adams was the blind...
Illustration
Almeda Adams was the blind author of a book titled Seeing Europe Through Sightless Eyes. She helped to establish the Cleveland Music School Settlement. How did she become blind? When was was one day old, she was treated in the hospital by a doctor who had committed the sin of gluttony by overindulging in alcohol. In drunken stupor, the doctor had gone to the hospital where he was scheduled to be on duty. Because his judgment was impaired by his excessive drinking, he put too strong a solution of silver nitrate in little Almeda Adams' eyes.
