Alongside one of the peninsulas...
Illustration
Alongside one of the peninsulas on the Maine coast, a bay runs deep inland. The length of the bay and the height of the tide are just right so that the outgoing tide is unable to get to the ocean before the incoming tide meets it. Rushing together they literally fall all over themselves, creating a waterfall out of the opposing forces of the tide. The result is called a reverse falls. It is breathtakingly awesome, full of power and majesty.
