Amidst the intense heat and noise of a steel mill one can become disoriented. The workers in the exposed areas are garbed in strange fire-resistant clothing and masks or helmets. Then the cauldron full of molten steel grinds along an overhead crane until it is in place. The container is tilted mechanically and the whole building is illuminated by a fiery flow of white-hot fluid. As the molten steel is poured, sparks fly up in all directions like angry fireflies. With all the impurities skimmed off, the poured steel is pure and refined.
