And a voice came out...
Illustration
"And a voice came out of the cloud ..." (Luke 9:35)
We so easily lament the fact that God does not often speak. His seeming absence is often profound, especially when there is great human suffering.
Seldom do we contemplate the significance of God's voice. Consider the times in the New Testament when a voice was heard:
"A voice came from heaven, 'Thou art my beloved Son; with thee I am well pleased'." (Luke 3:22) This voice was heard at Jesus' baptism. And then what? Forty days of wilderness temptation!
