As Archbishop Oscar Romero stood in his cathedral in El Salvador in 1980, celebrating the Mass, a bullet fired by a right-wing death-squad member ripped through his heart. Romero did not survive that wound. He bled out his life, minutes later, on the floor behind the altar. Yet after the Archbishop's death, his followers remembered something he had once said: "If I am killed, I will be resurrected in the people." That is indeed what happened.
