Bacon wrote, "in contemplation, if a man begins with certainties, he shall end in doubts; but if he be content with doubts, he shall end in certainties." And Bovee stated, "Can that which is the greatest virtue in philosophy, doubt, be in what the priests term it, the greatness of sins?"
We are a bit hard on doubters. There was much more to Thomas than his doubting. Even the disciples who seemingly dismiss the women and their messages of the risen Christ, came to great faith. The trick seems to be in confronting our doubts, not ignoring or rejecting them as irreligious.
