Betty Lou taught piano to elementary school students for twenty years. She said her students taught her as much about life as she taught them about piano. She pointed to the children's behavior at the recital. She introduced each student, stated how long he or she been playing, then named the piece the child would perform. Many children, however, sitting on the piano bench waiting for her to finish her introduction, actually started to play before she completed her final sentence.
