In the Celtic tradition, they speak of "thin places." By "thin places," they mean those occasions when Christians feel a firsthand experience with God. A thin place is where the separation between us and God becomes very thin and practically disappears. Some people experience those thin places in Jerusalem or Bethlehem or in some magnificent church. Others experience those thin places during times of prayer or Bible reading or during communion. But we would have to say that the ultimate thin place we have is with Jesus. Because with him, what it means to be human and what it means to be God come completely together in that one person.
