A certain novelist was once called a "toy socialist," because he spoke eloquently about the movement, but did not commit himself to action. There are many Christians who play with their religious convictions.

One fellow said of his so-called "watch-dog" as the mutt hastened under the porch, "He's trained to attack, but he isn't very good at it." As Christians we are trained by our Lord and led by his Spirit to be on the offensive; but sometimes instead of setting the standard, we may be more prone to retreat.
