Charlie stepped up to the fence line to look over the field that he had planted the week before. His son Steve, a half-step behind him, was muttering something about the early morning hour. Hoisting himself up the post so he could see better, he griped, "I don't see nothing, Dad." Charlie smiled with the wisdom of the seasons. "Oh, those seeds have been very busy. Any day now." Steve repeated, "But I don't see anything; let's go." "Another warm rain should just about do it," Charlie added. He picked his son off the post and set him on the ground. "Besides, if the shoots came up too early, the late frost might get them. A little more patience, Steve. The Lord knows when the time is right. We sweat the plantin'; he sweats the rest."
