Charlton Heston had to learn something new for the 1967 movie, Counterpoint. Although he doesn't even read music, he had to learn "to pretend to conduct" an orchestra. He says of the experience, "Unlike say, charioteering, jousting, and fresco painting, where I was at least familiar with the territory, this is a new line of country entirely. As always though, work will do it. Poco a poco, as we musicians say." Later he called it the toughest thing he ever learned for a part. And one of the most exhausting, too. He said, "I used to come out of the sessions dripping with sweat.
