Christ is the perfect example, of course, but even in the everyday world, there are times when suffering service is exalted. In Chemainus, British Columbia, there's a mural by Stanley Taniwa called "The Lone Scout." It commemorates Shige Yoshida, a part of the Japanese minority in Chemainus. He was interned during World War II in1942.
