Dick Geary writing for History Today notes the rise of public support for National Socialism in Germany. Between 1928 and 1932 the party went from a small minority expression to a position of dominance in a gathering of support that would have disastrous consequences for the world. In 1928 less than 2.6 percent of voters supported Nazi candidates. Two years later they registered dramatic gains garnering 18.3 percent of the popular vote. By 1932 over thirteen million Germans, about 37 percent of the votes cast, supported Nazi candidates.
