Each of the two young boys selected role models by which they governed their lives. One
boy selected a likable scoundrel who always searched for the get-rich-quick scheme,
ways to manipulate others to feather his own nest. The other selected a man who was
known for fair play and equitable dealings with others.
The man who modeled himself after the scoundrel said, "Human beings are evil. They are self-centered and the primary concern of life is taking care of number one." The second man countered, "Human beings are good. We are created in the image of God and therefore are naturally loving creatures who are trusted and trustworthy." Two small boys overheard their conversation and were much impressed. One took the first as his hero and the other the second.
