Emphasis Preaching Journal

Each week at Taconic Correctional Facility in New York State, inmates and volunteers meet in a group known as Bethany Group. These meetings which were begun by the Roman Catholic chaplain are a time for sharing and trusting, study and prayer. It is no small thing, either, when a woman, in preparing to leave prison, also leaves the Bethany Group. Her fellow group members pray for her and wish her well, and the ceremony of leaving becomes a celebration of a new phase or stage in her life. -- Winifred
