In the early 1990s, the Washington Post published an article pointing out how students from other countries adapt to the lifestyle of most American teens. Pauline, a Polish high school student studying in the United States, said that when she first came here she was amazed by the way teens spent their time. According to Pauline, "In Warsaw, we would talk to friends after school, go home and eat with our parents, and then do four or five hours of homework. When I first came here, it was like going into a crazy world, but now I am getting used to it.
