Electricity is a great mystery...
Illustration
Electricity is a great mystery even to the most learned scientists; most of us have a hard time describing what it is. Yet we do not hesitate to use it every day for hundreds of different purposes. It heats our homes, carries voices over thousands of miles, runs many appliances, and does a myriad of other things. We understand dimly that, in some distant place, nuclear power, oil, or a powerful current of water is used to operate an intricate machine called a generator. This machine creates an electrical current that is fed into great cables.
