Few things amaze so much as "a new thing." A fascinating book published in the last few years is The New New Thing: A Silicon Valley Story by Michael Lewis. The book is about Jim Clark, the founder of Silicon Graphics and Netscape. Clark intended to startle the health-care world by launching Healtheon, bringing the majority of the industry's transactions online. Clark, however, deviates from the expected as much of his time is spent aboard a computerized yacht. Instead of functioning like a traditional businessman, Clark becomes "a conceptual artist."
