A few years ago a drought fell on the eastern part of the United States. No rain fell for weeks. Creeks dried up, water reserves were low, wells went dry, farmers were concerned about losing their crops, and it was against the law to water your lawn or to wash your car. Thank God, there were some later summer rains which prevented a disaster. But the drought helped to remind us of how we take things for granted. We take God for granted. We take water for granted. Life cannot exist without water.
