Before the first meal is...

Before the first meal is served at summer camp, the children
race to be first in line. As they converge on the dining room,
they scramble with one another to be the first through the door.
Soon the crush of young bodies, laughing and pushing and
squeezing, almost jams the doors. And then, the director arrives
to announce how life is lived at camp.
First, she encourages everyone to find a place in line.
After the line is formed, she then asks the first one in line to
lead those in the front toward the back, while the last one in
