Following the early service, the choir descended on the fellowship hall like a horde of hungry locusts. It was one of those in-between Sundays, in-between the cold of winter and the heat of summer. The property committee had not yet made the annual switch from the furnace to the air conditioning system -- and the choir was HOT! That was the problem with "in-between Sundays." They were notoriously unpredictable. If the property committee turned on the air conditioning too soon, any late cold snaps would have the congregation up-in-arms about freezing during worship.
