"Four score and seven years ago, our forefathers brought forth on this continent a new nation, conceived in liberty and justice and dedicated to the proposition that all men are created equal." We all know those are the opening lines of Lincoln's Gettysburg Address. It was given at the dedication of a cemetery. It's interesting that at that memorial ceremony, Lincoln referred the people to their beginnings. It is also interesting that it was not intended that the President's speech be the keynote of the day. It was not even expected that Lincoln would come.
