French General Philippe Morillon, in his role as commander of the U.N. peace force in Bosnia, had earned a reputation for being a loose cannon who needed watching. He gave dinner parties in Sarajevo while Serbian shells fell on the city -- waiters were dressed in tails and served guests in white gloves and full-dress uniforms. Until he risked his life and honor by standing with the thousands of people caught in the Serbian seige of the eastern Bosnian town of Srebrenica.
