A friend who is a mechanical engineer commented that his favorite scene from the movie Titanic was when the ship got underway and they showed the huge pistons beginning to pound, powerfully propelling the ship through the water. The power caught in that scene impressed this person who works around powerful equipment every day. I found myself in awe of technological power when I recently had the opportunity to fly on a Boeing 747. The huge jet engines seemed almost effortlessly to propel that huge aircraft into the sky. Humans have found many ways to harness power and put it to work.
