Galileo's astronomical investigations were often criticized by people in the church because they felt his concepts of such a big universe would leave no place for humans. Galileo pointed out the error in their thinking by saying, as he pointed to a bunch of grapes, "The sun will still ripen one small bunch of grapes as though it has nothing else to do."
