A gentleman had a rather simple operation but the wound refused to heal. A lengthy hospital stay ensued but nothing seemed to help the operated area to respond to treatment. Every day, the gaping wound had to be drained, washed, and re-bandaged.
Eventually, the doctors began searching for the cause of the slow healing. They discovered an underlying, previously undetected case of diabetes. Once the diabetes was treated, the wound was able to heal normally.
