God asks, perhaps rhetorically, to whom will you compare me? Down through the ages, humankind has repeatedly taken up the challenge and compared others to God. There was Atlas, the mighty strongman, able to lift the whole world on his shoulders. There was Bacchus or Dionysus, the god of wine, whose gift brought unbridled happiness to the people. There was Eros or Cupid, who brought love; Enki, who brought wisdom; and Nike, who brought victory. And, one who is a contemporary of every age, Midas, whose golden touch makes many people envious to the point of becoming weak-kneed.
