God sometimes acts suddenly and there seems to be little warning. In the 16th century Martin Luther had little warning as he walked returning to school. A storm came up suddenly. Martin Luther took cover under a large oak tree. Frightened by the storm he prayed to Saint Anne as people often did in those days. Lightning struck the tree. Martin Luther made a vow to God and entered the Black Cloister where his struggle of faith led him to the witness of scripture and the conviction that it is God's grace and not man or woman's work that saves.
