The good physician Luke is the only gospel writer who tells us the story of Jesus' first visit to the Temple. Twelve-year-old Jesus was considered a man in Jewish law. He, like all other Jewish men within a twenty-mile radius of Jerusalem, was required to worship at the Temple during the feast of Passover (Pesah) celebrated in the Hebrew month of Nisan (April-May).
