H. B. Tristram wrote a book titled Eastern Customs in Bible Lands. In the book, Tristram told about a time that he preached in Ceylon. He did not know the language, so he preached through an interpreter. Later, Tristram learned that he had not chosen his topic wisely. He had talked about the parable of the lost sheep. Afterwards, the interpreter said to him, "Are you aware, sir, that there is not a single person listening to you who has ever seen a sheep?
