Have you ever seen an eagle playing on the wind? It's an amazing sight. The air over a river moves with the river, and just as we can use a raft or canoe to ride the current at its own speed down the banks of soil, so eagles will spread their wings and, without ruffling a feather or moving a muscle, ride down the current between the pines on either side. Occasionally, they will bank slightly to take advantage of a whirling eddy, then right themselves and spin the other way.
