Have you heard of the National Council of Teachers of English Doublespeak award? Last year's recipient was the U.S. State Department which announced the elimination of the word "killing" from all official reports on human rights violations under repressive regimes. Instead, the reports would describe all such future deaths as "unlawful or arbitrary deprivation of life."
