Helen Keller was born...

Helen Keller was born with the crushing handicaps of both blindness and deafness ‚--'' a helpless prisoner in a dark and silent world. Or was she helpless? Thanks to the aid of a loving teacher, Helen Keller blossomed into one of the triumphs of the twentieth century.
One day she stood on the stage of a great university to receive an honorary degree. The audience was standing also, giving her a tremendous ovation. She couldn‚--ôt hear it, but she could feel it through the vibrating boards beneath her feet.
And when it was quiet again, she spoke these words: ‚--úThis honor is a sign that darkness and silence need not bar the progress of the immortal human spirit.‚--ù
Saint Paul knew this a long time ago. ‚--úWe look not to the things that are seen but to the things that are unseen; for the things that are seen are transient, but the things that are unseen are eternal.‚--ù (v. 18)
