Henri J.M. Nouwen becomes easily known as Henri by those who attend his conferences. Henri perceives himself as a chosen child and he perceives others as the same. All are called into "The Beloved Community," Henri says. A priest in the RC Church, he spends his focal time as pastor of the L'Arche Community in Toronto, Canada. Yale and Harvard along with Notre Dame have gladly listed him among their faculty. But those who think and pray with him in conferences find themselves calling him simply Henri. One's given name is his baptism name, a son, a most honored name.
