How hard it is to convince people in this age and generation that commitment usually precedes joy. Only as we give it our all do we realize the full benefit. We are frequently reluctant, however, to make that wholehearted effort. Instead, many want to abrogate the wedding vow "until death do us part" in favor of "until someone better comes along." Others want to try college or a job "just to see if I like it." A growing number of people want the church to be there for weddings, funerals, and Christmas Eve, but they don't want to make a commitment to Christ or the Church.
